I am so grateful for so much. It is wonderful to be able to give back.
Since launching this website just over a year ago, I have been able to make donations to many wonderful causes. Some of the organizations and institutions helped by Hayleigh's Cherished Charms are:
HEAR in NH (school for the deaf) - HEAR in New Hampshire is a non-profit organization providing a comprehensive auditory/oral education and therapeutic curriculum for young children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Through the use of a variety of amplification systems, deaf and hard of hearing children learn to listen and talk in a fun, nurturing, language-rich environment.
Wisconsin Children's Hospital - One of my customers bought some charms and tube twists as part of a pay it forward project. They donated them to the Wisconsin Children's Hospital. As soon as I heard what they were intending to do with the charms and tube twists, I added my own contribution. I love being invited to help others! Thank you!
The Greater Dayton/Cincinnati (Ohio)Walk4Hearing fund raiser for the Hearing Loss Association of America - This is another great cause that I was happy to make a contribution to. You can read all about the walk on their website or make a donation to the cause at http://hlaa.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=1882&pg=entry
New York City Walk4Hearing fund raiser for the Hearing Loss Association of America - This is another HLAA group that was making a big noise in the big city. I was happy to donate tube twists and special charms for the event!
The Minuteman Implant Club, Connections 2011
The Minuteman Implant Club (MIC) is a New England-based, non-profit organization that provides valuable information, education and support to deaf children and adults who have cochlear implants. The convention brings together over 1,000 users and professionals to discuss medical and technological advances, speech and language approaches, classroom acoustics, sociological and psychological issues, and family support initiatives.
The Illinois Teachers of Hard of Hearing/Deaf Individuals 47th Annual Conference - I was happy to contribute hearing aid charms for the Annual Conference scholarship raffle. This scholarship allows the organization to recognize and reward outstanding educators and students in the field of Deaf Education. I love to support organizations like this!
SayWhatClub - The SayWhatClub is a forum for people with hearing loss. They are having an auction and I was happy to donate some charms and tube twists. You can learn more about this club through their website at http://www.saywhatclub.com
Communications Connections, Inc. - Is a new organization in Southern Wisconsin that engages in creative programming for families with hearing loss and their children in the areas of language and social development. Thank you for letting me be a part of supporting your organization!
Statewide Professional/Family Conferences - Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Deafblind 2011 - It was my pleasure to not only contribute to the silent auction for this event but to be invited to speak at both the professional part of the conference and the family. What a wonderful experience. Thank you!
KIVA- Kiva's mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. I have now supported four women.
* The first woman I supported through your help, is an entrepeneur in Vietnam, named Long Anh-Ha Noi. She wanted help to build a pen for her ducks and to buy feed for them. She sells their eggs.
* The second loan was to Long Hor in Cambodia. She has 9 children and was applying for a loan to help pay her children's school fees.
* The third loan was to Assia Nyembwein Kenya. She sells fish and needed help purchasing fish in the off-season.
* The fourth load was to a woman in Mongolia named Uuganbayar Battsengel. She needed a loan to buy material for her clothing business.
Missions Of Hope, Nairobi, Kenya- Missions of Hope is at work in the Mathare Valley slums in Nairobi, Kenya. This mission serves children orphaned by HIV/AIDs and other reasons that are living in the slums of the city. They provide Christian education, food and services to 3,000 children. CMF is the partner agency which is located in Indianapolis, IN.
The Southern NH Rescue Mission - The mission estimated that 350 people were going to be attending their Thanksgiving Banquet at $2.00 a person. Not only were my sisters and I able to help contribute and raise the money necessary for the banquet to be held, we were invited to help serve. It was a wonderful event. Here is a photo of me and my sisters at the mission...
